  • Wellsite geohazard surveys
  • Pipleline and cable route mapping and evaluation
  • Ordinance location and mapping
  • Ice scour and permafrost depth mapping
  • Shallow geotechnics
  • Placer and aggregate exploration
  • Underwater search and identification
  • Bedrock and velocity determination
  • Hydrographic surveys
  • Pre and post-dredge surveys
  • Construction surveys
  • Environmental surveys
  • Data interpretation, compilation and processing
  • GIS Mapping and database management

As a requirement of McGregor’s operational safety management system, all marine installations are inspected and load tested prior to use to ensure safe working conditions during deployment and recovery of equipment offshore.

McGregor uses a variety of tools for processing and visualisation of shallow seismic data for interpretation and identification of shallow gas hazards associated with pre-drilling requirements for offshore wells.

To ensure equipment reliability and data integrity, McGregor’s team of technicians work closely with manufacturers to ensure all equipment is properly installed. All equipment is installed and calibrated to meet equipment and project specifications. Where possible equipment is hull-mounted or through hull mounted to ensure stability and enhance performance.

As well as data collection and processing for chart and seismic section production McGregor GeoScience also captures other data relevant to the environmental aspects of marine development projects. Marine mammals and bird population data can be observed and recorded for use by various stakeholders associated with the environmental impacts of offshore activities.

Project Reporting and Deliverables

McGregor owns and operates a number of on and offline QC, processing and reporting suites that facilitates the viewing, cleaning and processing of data to enable the presentation of final charts and reports for all our projects. We take a great pride in the accuracy and completeness of our final deliverables and strive to ensure that they are an appropriate representation of the scope of work and our client’s requirements for the job at hand. McGregor utilizes a variety of tools that are considered industry standard for the viewing and manipulation of large data sets. Following are examples of some of the on and offline data acquisition and processing tools used:

  • Sub-bottom Profiler Data: TritonElics and WinPics
  • Multibeam QINSy and CARIS HIPS/SIPS
  • General mapping: PCs, AutoCAD Map, ArcView, Surfer
  • Plotters/Recorders EPC, HP and Epson colour plotters
  • Side Scan Sonar Data TritonElics, CODA or Sonar Pro
  • Online Navigation Hypack, QINSy and EIVA INS suites

McGregor’s marine survey reports have been developed and refined during the course of numerous projects and have been refined through an iterative process of listening and giving the client exactly what is required based on the project requirements. A typical McGregor marine survey report contains the following key elements:
